The life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is a very important part of history. It is the basis of Islam and an example to millions of Muslims around the world.

From being conceived to becoming a prophet and beyond, his life story is a strong one of faith, persistence, and following Allah’s lead.

Allah sent him as the last prophet.

The life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is looked at in great depth in this article. It sheds light on both his legacy and the main ideas of Islam.

Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) early life and background

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Mecca in the year 570 CE. At that time, Mecca was a busy place for trade and holy pilgrimage.

Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim) and his son Ishmael (Ismail) built the Kaaba, which is a holy place in Mecca.

Mecca was a major center for trade and travel. People came from all over the Arabian Peninsula to visit because it was a holy place.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was called “Al-Amin,” which means “the trustworthy,” from a very young age because he was known for being honest, moral, and kind.

In his younger years, he worked as a shepherd before becoming a trader. He lived a simple life. People in the Meccan society liked him because he was decent and did honest business.

Being married and the first things the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said

When Khadijah was 25, she was married to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). She was a wealthy widow who was deeply touched by his honesty. Khadijah became his devoted wife as their marriage showed how much they loved and appreciated each other. His job as a trader gave him a lot of time to go to the Cave of Hira to think and relax.

While he was on one of his breaks in 610 CE, the Angel Gabriel brought the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) his first message from Allah. This event marked the beginning of his role as a prophet. At first, the message was only shared with a small group of people. But as revelations kept coming, Allah told him to spread the Islamic word to everyone.

This is what Islam says:

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) pushed for trust in only one god, Allah, stressing that there is no other god worthy of worship besides Allah.

This message was very new and different in a society that believed in many gods and worshiped many idols. The basic rules of Islam that were revealed to the Prophet include the following:

  1. People who believe in Tawhid, also called “the Oneness of Allah,” believe Allah is the only one who created the universe and is forgiving and all-powerful.
  2. People who believe in prophethood believe that Allah picked certain people to guide people, and Muhammad (PBUH) is seen as the last and final prophet.
  3. The belief in a “Day of Judgment” means that people will be judged for their deeds in the next life.
  4. Divine Books are the holy books that were given to different prophets. The Quran is the most complete and final revelation.
  5. Faith in angels: The belief that there are beings in heaven who do Allah’s work.

Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) teachings put compassion, fairness, and equality at the top of the list. They were meant to fight the social inequality and moral decline that were common in Meccan society.

The leaders of the Quraysh were very against the teaching of Islam because they saw it as a direct threat to the way they ran their society and economy. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) successfully took over Mecca without violence in the year 630 CE. This was the last step in his goal to spread Islam across the Arabian Peninsula with religion. The statues that were kept in the Kaaba were destroyed, and the holy place was made holy again so that only Allah could be worshiped there.
